NHRC seeks ATR on life threat of a RTI activist in Odisha

Kendrapara, Mar 30 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commissioner (NHRC) today directed Kendrapara SP to submit an Action Taken Report(ATR) within four weeks on the alleged life threat to RTI activist Amitabh Chand.
The Rights body gave the direction while adjudicating a complainant filed by RTI activist Akhand.
Akhand in his complainant on January 11 last alleged that Amitabh was under life threat by a family as he had exposed four persons of a family getting government jobs by submitting false caste certificates to authorities.

Kolkata, May 16 (UNI) The Calcutta High Court, hearing pleas on the Murshidabad violence following the Waqf Amendment Act protests, has said the Central armed forces will stay in troubled-torn Shamshergunj and Dhulian for now until further orders and advised the West Bengal government to recruit more police personnel.
