Sri Lanka imports salt from India

Colombo, Jan 27 (UNI) Sri Lanka on Monday received a shipment of 1,485 metric tons of salt imported from India to mitigate a shortage in the local market.
The move to import salt follows the Cabinet of Ministers' approval to bring in 30,000 metric tons of salt to ensure an adequate supply in the market, according to The Daily Mirror report.
The local salt industry has struggled to meet national consumption needs due to disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions.
