United Nations, May 9 (UNI) Russia and the United States have established "satisfactory working contacts" in the United Nations, with the official appointment of the US Permanent Representative. Russia expects more decisive actions from the American diplomatic mission, Russian Deputy Ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy told RIA Novosti.
"We have established quite satisfactory working contacts with the current team of the American Permanent Mission, which allow us to interact on the entire spectrum of UN issues. Nevertheless, the Permanent Representative is the Permanent Representative, and with his arrival we can expect more decisive actions from the American diplomatic mission in fulfillment of the directives and priorities of President Donald Trump. The sooner this moment comes, the better," Polyanskiy said.
Last week, Trump announced the dismissal of then-National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, the main figure in the scandal with the leak of classified information through the Signal messenger. The US leader said he would nominate Waltz for the post of the next US Ambassador to the UN. Trump said the national security advisor's duties would temporarily go to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who would also retain his position at the State Department.
