Russia remains biggest threat to European security - New German Chancellor

Moscow, May 8 (UNI) New German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Russia remains the biggest threat to European security.
Merz was speaking at a press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, broadcast by the Welt television channel.
The new German chancellor added that Europe's deterrence system and defense capability must be strengthened promptly.
In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained in detail in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that Moscow is not going to attack NATO countries, there is no point in it. The Russian leader noted that Western politicians regularly intimidate their populations with an imaginary Russian threat in order to distract attention from domestic problems.
