Panama Papers: All 28 accused of money laundering acquitted

Panama City, June 29 (UNI) A Panamanian court on Saturday acquitted all 28 defendants charged with money laundering in connection with the Panama Papers controversy, bringing an end to a trial that began in April, according to media reports.
The secret financial documents were revealed in 2016, demonstrating how some of the world's wealthiest and most influential individuals use tax havens to conceal wealth. The papers had exposed alleged illegal properties worth around Rs 20,078 crore of 500 Indians who were named in the documents.
Jurgen Mossack and the late Ramon Fonseca, the founder of the now-defunct law company at the core of the scandal, were among those exonerated, a BBC report said.
