US ‘Project Freedom’ deploys guided-missile destroyers, 100 aircraft to reopen Hormuz

Washington, May 4 (UNI) The United States’ “Project Freedom” involves a large-scale military operation involving guided-missile destroyers, more than 100 aircraft and roughly 15,000 personnel, underscoring the urgency displayed by certain countries to support merchant vessels seeking safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
Yet despite its scale and firepower, it is unlikely to offer a lasting solution to the growing instability in one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints.
According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the mission extends far beyond escorting commercial vessels. Instead, it represents a broader effort to restore freedom of navigation in the strategically vital waterway, through which nearly a quarter of global seaborne oil, along with significant volumes of LNG, fuel and fertilizers, passes each day.

Washington/ Tehran, Jun 8 (UNI): After reports emerged that the US Treasury Department is considering a plan to redirect frozen Iranian assets toward compensating American-aligned Gulf states for damage linked to Iranian military actions during the ongoing conflict, Iran dismissed the proposal as “absurd” and “ridiculous.”
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, quoted by Iranian media, rejected claims that Washington is considering using Iran’s blocked funds for reconstruction or compensation in Gulf states affected by regional conflict.
