UN receives only 37 percent of required aid for Afghanistan in 2025

Doha, Nov 6 (UNI/SPUTNIK) Afghanistan is no longer a priority for the international community, as the United Nations received only 37 percent of the required funds for humanitarian programs in Afghanistan this year, Indrika Ratwatte, the UN deputy special representative of the secretary-general and coordinator for Afghanistan, told RIA Novosti.
"We don't receive enough funds to provide the humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. The humanitarian response plan is annually done at the end of the year, showing that the humanitarian appeal for 2025 has only funded 37 percent so far, so there is a 60 percent gap. Today, we reach only the most vulnerable people with our help," Ratwatte said at the World Summit for Social Development in Qatar.
He added that he expects further funding cuts next year as Afghanistan is no longer a priority due to major crises and conflicts.
