Egypt, Iraq urge international pressure to achieve Gaza ceasefire

Cairo, Aug 27 (UNI) Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Tuesday called on the international community to exert intensive pressure to complete a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
During a meeting in the northwestern Egyptian city of New Alamein, the two leaders exchanged views on ways to help the Middle East overcome its serious crises threatening regional stability and capabilities, and jointly called for calm and regional de-escalation, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.
They underlined the need to end the humanitarian plight in the Gaza Strip and stop the ongoing Israeli escalation in the West Bank, it said.
