Bangladesh to import 17k metric tonnes refined diesel from India in April via Friendship Pipeline

New Delhi/Dhaka, Apr 15 (UNI) The Bangladesh government is set to import over 17,000 metric tonnes more refined diesel from India this month through the Friendship Pipeline to strengthen the country's energy security, amid the ongoing energy crisis plaguing the country.
Though supplies have eased somewhat, the situation remains unpredictable, with Dhaka aiming to stabilise energy supply chains, and prevent hoarding, or panic buying, as well as actively rationing its reserves.
Over 5,000 tonnes are scheduled to be pumped Thursday and are expected to arrive within 4–5 days, with the remaining 12,000 tonnes set to reach before the end of April, manager of the country's state-owned petroleum company, Meghna Petroleum Ltd, Kazi Md Rabiul Alam told state media.
