Aussie researchers develop urine and wastewater powered systems for green hydrogen production

Canberra, May 11 (UNI) In their latest studies into sustainable-eco-friendly energy, Australian researchers at the University of Adelaide have developed two innovative, energy-efficient systems that use urea from human urine and wastewater to produce cheaper green hydrogen.

Hydrogen is typically generated by splitting water through electrolysis, a process that is costly and energy-intensive. While extracting hydrogen from fossil fuels is cheaper, it comes with high carbon emissions, it said.
