Kabul, May 12 (UNI) Nearly three years after a deadly earthquake levelled parts of southeastern Afghanistan, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has delivered 1,000 newly built, earthquake-resistant homes to families in Giyan district, Paktika Province.
Part of a
6.26 million recovery initiative, the homes will provide permanent shelter to around 7,000 people—mostly women and children—displaced or left vulnerable by the June 2022 quake. A formal handover ceremony took place on Sunday.
