Rs 704 cr worth cases resolved through Lok Adalat settlement

Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) The National Lok Adalat amicably resolved 13,296 cases during its sitting in various legal institutions of the western metropolis last week, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The National Lok Adalat was organised on May 10 at various legal institutions, including the City Civil and Sessions Court, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Co-operative Appellate Court, DRT Colaba, and the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal. A total of 75 panels were constituted for the Lok Adalat.
According to the statement, during the Lok Adalat, 9,022 pending cases and 4,274 pre-litigation cases—summing up to 13,296 cases —were resolved amicably. The cumulative settlement value of these cases stood at Rs 704 crore.

Mahatma Gandhi, has filed a petition at the Bombay High Court seeking a court's nod to enforce aviation rules that prohibit illegal slaughter-houses, meat, poultry, and fish shops and non-vegetarian municipal markets operating within a radius of 10 kms from the city’s airports.
