Mumbai court refuses relief to Bihar businessman in forged stamp racket

Mumbai, Jan 11 (UNI) A Mumbai sessions court has declined to grant bail to Shahid Raza, a businessman from Bihar, who was arrested on October 16 last year for his alleged role in an interstate racket involving forged postal stamps.
The court passed the order after examining the material placed on record by the investigating agency and the submissions made by both sides.
The case was registered on a complaint filed by the Postal Inspector at the Mumbai General Post Office with the MRA Marg police station. According to the prosecution, the Chief Postmaster General of Madhya Pradesh had sent a confidential communication to the Mumbai GPO stating that five letters dispatched from Mumbai were found to be bearing fake postal stamps. This information prompted a detailed inquiry by the postal authorities and the police.
