Truck driver found fully negligent; family awarded Rs 1.15 cr by Thane MACT

Mumbai, Oct 30 (UNI) The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has ordered compensation of Rs 1.15 crore to the family members of a couple who lost their lives in a road accident five years ago.
The incident took place on February 2, 2019, when the couple was travelling on a scooter on the Eastern Express Highway.
Akshay Pramod Gupta, 34, an engineer earning Rs 65,000 per month, was riding the scooter with his 32-year-old wife, Aarti Akshay Gupta, and their daughter. The family, residents of Thane city, was travelling at a moderate speed near the Phiroz Shah Mehta Bridge in Vikhroli when a speeding truck approached from behind.
