Campaigning concludes across 29 civic bodies in Maharashtra , BMC contest seen as major political test

Mumbai, Jan 13 (UNI) Campaigning for elections to all 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, including the financial capital Mumbai, concluded on Tuesday, clearing the decks for polling scheduled on January 15, Thursday. The counting of votes will take place on January 16 and results declared by evening.
The civic elections are being closely watched as they are likely to offer an early indication of public sentiment towards major political formations in Maharashtra ahead of the next state assembly polls. Political observers believe the outcome could influence alliance dynamics and campaign strategies in the coming months.
More than 15,000 candidates are in the fray across the state. In Mumbai alone, around 1,700 candidates are contesting elections to 227 wards of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
