Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) Fearing defeat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to stoke up religious tension by using the language of Hindu-Muslim and Pakistan, claimed Congress Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala here on Monday.
Speaking to media at the party head office here, he said that it is clear from trends of two phases of the Lok Sabha elections that people across the country want change and they support INDIA bloc.
Since Modi and BJP have realised opinion of people, the level of the Prime Minister's language has stooped down due to fear of defeat and losing his seat, he charged.
Criticising the Modi government, the Congress leader claimed that it had done nothing in past 10 years to solve problems of the people.
"Now, there is nothing to say to people, hence Modi is using the language of religious divisiveness," he noted.
He targeted Modi for using low-level language about the leaders of Opposition parties, saying that the language used by Modi against senior leaders like NCP (SP) president, Sharad Pawar, is wrong and unbecoming of a person holding the post of prime minister.
The public have lost their faith in the Modi government, on other hand, the Congress campaign is getting support of people, he claimed and said that people are expressing their faith in guarantees given by the Congress party in its party manifesto.
While rubbishing Modi's claim that there is a demand to make South India a separate country, Chennithala made it clear that no one has made such a demand, alleging that they (BJP) are working to incite people.
But it would have no effect on the masses, he pointed.
Asked about resignation of former minister and State Working president Naseem Khan, Chennithala said that Khan and his supporters have taken their resignations back and they will actively campaign for party candidates, he added.
