Actress Malaika's father falls to death from 6th floor in Mumbai, suicide suspected

Mumbai, Sep 11 (UNI) Anil Arora, father of model-actress Malaika Arora, was found dead after he allegedly jumped off the 6th floor of his residential building in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Wednesday morning, police said, hinting at a possible suicide. However, no suicide note has been found yet.

Arora, 62, a retired Merchant Navy sailor, is suspected to have jumped to death around 10.30 am, police said.

He is survived by daughters Malaika and Amrita as well as his divorced wife Joyce Polycrap. Malaika’s parents had divorced when she was 11.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Raj Tilak Roshan said, "Body of Anil Arora was found... He resided on the 6th floor. We are carrying out further investigation from all angles in detail… prima facie it seems to be suicide.”

“Our teams are here, forensic teams are here as well... the body is being taken for postmortem,” he said.

Malaika was in Pune when the alleged suicide took place. She, her actor friend Arjun Kapoor and her ex-husband Arbaz Khan rushed to the spot after hearing about the incident.

Arbaz Khan’s parents Salim Khan and Salma Khan and his brother Sohail Khan also reached Arora’s home after the incident.

Seema Sajdeh and producer Ritesh Sidhwani also Sophie Choudhary arrived at Arora's residence to be there for them in tough times.
