Four injured as suburban train hits pedestrians; Railway protest halts services shortly before accident

Mumbai, Nov 6 (UNI) At least four persons were injured after being struck by a suburban train near Sandhurst Road railway station this evening. The incident occurred around 7:00 pm, shortly after local train services on the Central Railway had been disrupted due to an impromptu protest by employee unions.
According to railway officials, the victims — three women and one man — had reportedly alighted from the wrong side of a train and were walking along the tracks when they were hit by an approaching suburban train. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, Central Railway spokesperson aid.
The accident followed a sudden work-stoppage agitation by railway staff earlier in the evening. The protest was triggered by the registration of a police case against two engineers in connection with the June 9 Mumbra train accident, which had resulted in four fatalities. That incident occurred when two trains crossed each other on a sharp curve, causing passengers standing on footboards to fall onto the tracks after their backpacks made contact.
