Norway Chess to move to Oslo from 2026, ending 13-year Stavanger chapter

Oslo, Jan 13 (UNI) One of the world’s most prestigious chess tournaments, Norway Chess, will enter a new phase from 2026 as the event relocates from Stavanger to Oslo after 13 years, as per the release by Norway Chess.
The tournament, along with Norway Chess Women, will be staged at Deichman Bjørvika in the Norwegian capital from May 25 to June 5, 2026.
Since its inception in 2013, Stavanger has been the permanent home of Norway Chess, helping establish it as a key fixture on the international chess calendar. The organisers acknowledged the city’s role in shaping the tournament’s identity, particularly in supporting the launch of Norway Chess Women, which offers equal prize money and playing conditions.

Leading the men’s charge was Sachin (60kg), who extended his brilliant run with another dominant win over England’s Jack Dryden. Over in the women’s section, Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) stormed through to the finals with a unanimous victory over Wales’ Rosie Eccles.
