Liverpool goes 13 points clear in Premier League after midweek games

London, Feb. 27 (UNI) Liverpool tightened their grip on this season's Premier League title with a 2-0 win at home to Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Liverpool's win, combined with Arsenal's 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest, leaves them 13 points clear at the top of the table.
Dominik Szoboszlai put Arne Slot's side ahead with a deflected shot in the 11th minute, with the coach in the stands serving the first of a two-game touchline ban.
Newcastle looked flat in attack without the injured Alexander Isak, and it was game over when Alexis Mac Allister doubled Liverpool's lead in the 63rd minute after exchanging passes with Mohamed Salah.
Arsenal dropped two more points at Forest, and coach Mikel Arteta will be worried by the second game in which his side has failed to score, with only one of their 13 shots on target.
Fit-again Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the game as Manchester City moved back into the top-four with a 1-0 win away to Tottenham, in a game that could have gone either way as both sides swapped chances.
Manchester United beat Ipswich Town 3-2 in another chaotic game that will do little to convince fans things are improving, with all three United goals coming from set pieces.
Comedy defending from United allowed Jaden Philogene to put Ipswich ahead into an open goal, before Sam Morsy deflected in Bruno Fernandes' free kick to make it 1-1. Matthijs de Ligt then swept in a loose ball to put United ahead.
Patrick Dorgu then left United with 10 men after he was sent off for a high challenge, just before Philogene leveled on the stroke of halftime.
Harry Maguire scored his side's third with a trademark header two minutes into the second half and perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was that there were no further goals.
Yoane Wissa and Jake O'Brien both scored as Brentford and Everton drew 1-1, while the most significant result of the four games played on Tuesday was Chelsea's 4-0 win at home to Southampton.
