Toss again crucial as India falls short against SA in 2nd ODI

Raipur, Dec 3 (UNI) India captain KL Rahul underlined the impact of the toss in India's narrow four-wicket loss to South Africa in the second ODI at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, describing it as a decisive factor in the evening contest. The defeat allowed South Africa to level the three-match series 1-1.
"Not really a tough pill to swallow, considering the dew and the challenges of bowling in the second innings. The umpires were kind enough to change the ball a few times, but toss still plays a huge role. I am kicking myself for losing two tosses in a row," Rahul said.
India had posted a strong 358/5, yet Rahul stressed that a few extra runs could have provided a cushion for the bowlers against the wet ball in the second innings. "Even 350 looks good, but the chat in the dressing room has been about how to get an extra 20-25 runs to give bowlers more cushion. Bowlers are trying their hearts out, but there are always areas we can tighten up, including fielding," he added.
