Almada has signed a contract through the end of the season.
Midseason moves between Spanish clubs are rare, as they require the clubs involved to agree a transfer fee.
Almada becomes Oviedo's third coach of the campaign, replacing Luis Carrion, who was dismissed after Sunday's 4-0 loss away to Sevilla extended his winless spell.
