Vidarbha take control as Malewar's ton anchors recovery on Day 1

Nagpur, Feb 26 (UNI) Danish Malewar’s unbeaten century steered Vidarbha to a strong position at 254 for 4 at stumps on the opening day of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy final against Kerala here o Wednesday.
Walking in with his team in deep trouble at 11 for 2, Malewar displayed remarkable composure to guide the innings with an authoritative knock of 138*.
After early setbacks, Vidarbha found a resolute partnership in Malewar and Karun Nair, who added a crucial 215 runs for the fourth wicket. The duo countered the disciplined Kerala bowling attack with patience before capitalising on the loose deliveries. Nair, who contributed a fluent 86, fell victim to a run-out due to a minor mix-up, breaking the stand that had put Vidarbha in the ascendancy.
