Travis Head to open with Khawaja in Galle Test against Sri Lanka

Travis Head to open with Khawaja in Galle Test against Sri Lanka

Galle, Jan 28 (UNI) Stand-in captain Steve Smith on Tuesday confirmed that Travis Head will open the batting alongside Usman Khawaja in the first Test against Sri Lanka, putting an end to speculation about Khawaja’s opening partner.
The decision, announced on the eve of the match, sees Head replacing teenage rookie Sam Konstas at the top of the order.
Smith attributed the decision to Head’s strong performances in India, where his aggressive approach against the new ball yielded quick runs. "Travis showed great intent in India, which will be crucial here as well. His ability to attack early gives us an edge," Smith said.
