Rlys in South India to surpass Sri Lanka's network

Bengaluru, Feb 3 (UNI) South India is racing ahead in the railway sector, with four states on the verge of surpassing the entire railway network of Sri Lanka, thanks to transformative investments and groundbreaking infrastructure projects.
Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw made these announcements in a hybrid press conference on Monday, revealing how Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are set to redefine connectivity in the region.
In Telangana, a massive ₹5,337 crore budget allocation is powering the state’s railway revolution. The entire state is now 100% electrified, with an impressive ₹41,677 crore total investment driving new railway lines, station upgrades, and the development of key hubs like the Kazipet station and production unit. This project is set to elevate Telangana’s railway network to new heights.
