Telangana Govt intensifies rescue efforts at SLBC tunnel collapse

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) The Telangana government has intensified relief and rescue operations following the tragic collapse of SLBC Tunnel 1.
Efforts are being led by State Disaster Management Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, with multiple agencies working tirelessly to locate the missing workers and engineers, an official statement said on Sunday.
Sunday marks the 16th day since the incident, and rescue teams, including state and central disaster management organisations, the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), and specialised dog squads, are making continuous efforts to expedite the search.
On the orders of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, the operations are being scaled up daily to ensure no further delays in locating the missing individuals.
As part of the intensified efforts, Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, Nagarkurnool District Collector Badhawat Santosh, District SP Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath, and SLBC Tunnel Construction Company representative Praveen Singh reviewed the situation on-site on Sunday.
Additionally, two Belgian Malinois search dogs, Maya and Murphy, brought from Kerala, were deployed to assist in the search efforts. Along with them, 157 workers and technical experts joined the rescue mission in the morning.
Authorities remain hopeful that significant progress will be made in rescue, relief, and ventilation operations throughout the day.
Meanwhile, logs have been placed at the accident site to help navigate through water and mud, aiding rescue personnel in their operations.
