Telangana SLBC tunnel: CM to review ongoing rescue opn site

Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is schedules to visit the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse site on Sunday evening to review the rescue operations to save the eight workers who have been trapped since the collapse of the tunnel roof on February 22.
The CM will hold a review meeting at the SLBC tunnel site at Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district with the officials spearheading operations carried out by multiple agencies, including the Indian Army, Navy, and the NDRF.
On Saturday, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that the rescue teams have found four human remains near the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) parts, with another four located in nearby areas.
Addressing the media at the tunnel site, Jupally said the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) assisted the rescuers with ground-penetrating radar to identify these ‘anomalies’ in the tunnel, after marking five critical locations for removal of slit.
We expect the slit removal at these identified sites to be completed by Sunday afternoon, the minister added.
Four ministers, including N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna, have been monitoring the operations on a day-to-day basis, while Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy have visited the tunnel as part of the stocktaking exercise.
BJP floor leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, along with party legislators, visited the SLBC tunnel site on Saturday and met with NDRF teams, workers, and officials to understand the ongoing rescue efforts and the challenges faced.
The incident occurred when a section of the tunnel roof collapsed at the 14 km mark near Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district on February 22.
While 42 of the 50 workers, including two engineers deployed in the tunnel, managed to escape, eight of them were trapped.
