Tejas Mk-1A delivery to begin by 2025-end: HAL Chairman

Bengaluru, Feb 11 (UNI) The delivery of the indigenous Tejas Mk-1A fighter jets will commence by the end of 2025, with 11 aircrafts expected to be ready, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Chairman Dr DK Sunil announced on Tuesday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Aero India 2025, Dr Sunil said that American aerospace giant General Electric (GE) will begin supplying F404 engines from March, with a total of 12 engines expected to be delivered this year. These engines will power the Tejas Mk-1A, an upgraded variant of India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).
“Of the 11 Tejas Mk-1A aircraft scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, three have already taken to the skies at Aero India using reserve Category B engines,” he said. Category B engines refer to those acquired in previous agreements with GE but remained unused.
