Bengaluru, May 12 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday criticised the Union government for bypassing democratic norms in agreeing to a 'ceasefire' with Pakistan, stating that no all-party meeting was held and Parliament was not consulted on a matter of such grave national importance.
"A 'ceasefire' has been declared, and both countries have agreed. DGMOs are meeting. But before such a critical decision, an all-party meeting should have been convened, and Parliament ought to have been taken into confidence," he told reporters, calling the move "very serious."
His remarks came hours after the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan held a crucial hotline conversation to discuss the understanding reached on May 10. The talks, initially scheduled for noon, were delayed and commenced around 5 pm.
