Tight security arrangements in South TN ahead of Independence Day

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Aug 14 (UNI) Security measures have been tightened in Southern districts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, barely a day ahead of the 78th Independence Day celebrations.
The entire 1076 miles-long South-eastern coastline of the State comes under blanket security cover by the Indian Navy in coordination with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Coastal Security Group (CSG) of Tamil Nadu Marine Police to prevent any infiltration bid via sea route by subversive elements.
Though there is no Intelligence input about security threat, it is a routine affair that the war ships and offshore patrol vessels of Indian maritime forces were patrolling the Indian waters along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) off Rameswaram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari coasts, police sources said here on Wednesday.
