TN: Sri Lankan Navy arrests 14 more Indian fishermen for illegal poaching

Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu) Mar 6 (UNI) The Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 14 Indian fishermen and confiscated their mechanised fishing trawler, allegedly for poaching in its territorial waters, on Thursday night.
Fisheries department officials, quoting preliminary reports, said here tonight that the fishermen, hailing from the Pamban coastal hamlet, were arrested by the Sri Lankan navy when they were engaged in fishing activities on the high seas close to the south of Mannar.
The fishermen had ventured into the sea for routine fishing on Thursday morning.
