Ratha Saptami to be observed at Tirumala on Jan 25; Malayappa Swamy to bless devotees on seven vahanams

Tirumala, Jan 18 (UNI) The sacred festival of Ratha Saptami, celebrated as Surya Jayanthi, will be observed at Tirumala on January 25, during which Sri Malayappa Swamy will take out a grand procession on seven different vahanams in a single day along the temple Mada Streets, blessing devotees with darshan.
Ratha Saptami, also known as Magha Saptami, falls on the Shukla Paksha Saptami in the holy month of Magha. According to Vedic belief, the day marks the birth of Surya, who is revered as the provider of light and knowledge to the world. With a heavy rush of devotees expected, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made elaborate arrangements. The festival is popularly referred to as the Mini Brahmotsavams due to the scale of celebrations.
As per the schedule, the procession will begin with Surya Prabha Vahanam from 5.30 am to 8 am, coinciding with sunrise at 6.45 am. This will be followed by Chinna Sesha Vahanam from 9 am to 10 am, Garuda Vahanam from 11 am to 12 noon, and Hanumantha Vahanam from 1 pm to 2 pm. The Chakra Snanam is scheduled between 2 pm and 3 pm, followed by Kalpavriksha Vahanam from 4 pm to 5 pm, Sarvabhoopala Vahanam from 6 pm to 7 pm, and Chandra Prabha Vahanam from 8 pm to 9 pm.
