Danger of Delimitation : Stalin wonders whether India sliding into dictatorship, urges PM not to turn a calm South into a storm

Chennai, Apr 8 (UNI) Wondering whether India was sliding into dictatorship over Delimitation exercise and questioning the BJP-led union Government's tearing hurry in convening a special session of Parliament right in the middle of Assembly elections to five states, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Wednesday said forcing through far reaching constitutional amendments without even convening an all party consultation was nothing short of dictatorship and sought an answer from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the fair and pressing questions raised by the people of the south.
The Delimitation exercise has caused widespread apprehensions of reducing the Parliamentary representation of southern states, which has effectively implemented population control measures and the ruling DMK has been steadfastly opposing it as it would help in increasing the seats in Northern India which has failed to control the population growth.
In a lengthy post on X, posing a series of questions, he asked why the Centre was shrouding the entire delimitation process in secrecy instead of coming clean on how it intended to carry it out.
