BJP condemns Telangana Govt over salary cuts for sanitation workers

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Friday strongly criticised the Telangana government's approach towards outsourcing sanitation workers in municipalities, calling it highly unjust.
In a statement issued here on Friday, Sanjay emphasised the crucial role sanitation workers play in maintaining urban cleanliness. He praised their dedicated service, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed disappointment that despite repeated appeals for wage hikes, their demands have been ignored.
Instead of increasing wages, the government has issued orders reducing the salaries of municipal drivers and work inspectors, a move that Sanjay condemned as deeply unfair. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly opposed this decision. Given the rising cost of essential commodities and living expenses, salary hikes are a standard practice. However, instead of ensuring better pay, the state government has imposed drastic salary cuts, which Sanjay described as highly unjustifiable.
