Only 25 of 167 encroachers eligible as Kogilu Layout residents flee overnight

Bengaluru, Jan 12 (UNI) A startling revelation that only 25 out of 167 identified encroachers in Kogilu Layout near Yelahanka may be eligible for housing has emerged as the police crackdown on illegal occupation intensified, triggering a wave of overnight evacuations by residents who had earlier claimed to possess valid documents.
As the joint investigation by the district administration and police gathered momentum, several families abruptly vacated their houses and left the layout, apparently fearing detailed verification of their records.
Police said many of those who moved out had earlier asserted that their occupation was legal and backed by proper documentation, raising serious questions over the authenticity of such claims.
