Sabarimala gold row: Opposition demands CBI probe, resignation of minister and TDB chief

Kochi, Oct 4 (UNI) Opposition Leader in Kerala Assembly V. D. Satheesan today demanded a CBI probe, supervised by the High Court, into the alleged disappearance of temple gold offered by industrialist Vijay Mallya to Sabarimala in 1998. He also called for the resignation of the Devaswom Minister and Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President.
Addressing a press conference here, he asked the government and TDB to disclose how much of the 30 kg of gold donated by Mallya remains.
Satheesan cited the 2019 incident where gold-plated panels with a 40-year warranty were taken from Sabarimala and reached Chennai only after 40 days. “Was the gold stripped during this period? Why has this been concealed despite High Court references to the delay?” he questioned.
