CBI Court sentences Railway official to 2 years RI for bribery

Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) The Special Judge for CBI cases in Hyderabad has sentenced Minala Praveen, former Commercial Porter of the Office of Sr DCM, Hyderabad Division, South Central Railway (SCR), to two years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and a fine in a bribery case.
The CBI registered a case on June 24, 2014, against Minala Praveen, alleging that he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant. The bribe was purportedly to use his influence with CBI officials to close an alleged complaint pending against the complainant.
A chargesheet was filed by the CBI against Praveen on December 27, 2014. After the completion of the trial, the Court found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly, a CBI statement said on Friday.
