Complaint against Ranveer Singh for hurting religious sentiments

Bengaluru, Dec 3 (UNI) A legal complaint has been filed against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh at the High Grounds Police Station for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by mimicking the sacred Ullalthi Daiva performance from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 28.
The complaint, submitted by Bengaluru-based advocate Prashanth Metal, alleges that the actor’s gestures and comments during his stage address were derogatory towards the Ullalthi Daiva, a revered figure for the Tulu-speaking community.
The advocate stated that although Ranveer Singh appeared to praise the film and Shetty's performance, he allegedly used terms such as "demon" and "female ghost" while recreating the act, amounting to disrespect of deep-rooted religious beliefs.
