RCB stampede: CM hikes ex-gratia to Rs 25 lakh

Bengaluru, June 7 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday announced an increase in the ex-gratia compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The compensation amount has been enhanced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh per family.
The stampede occurred on June four during a victory celebration for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after their maiden IPL title win. A massive crowd, reportedly numbering between two to three lakh people, had gathered outside the stadium, which has a capacity of only 35,000. The crowd surge led to a deadly stampede, resulting in 11 deaths and injuries to over 50 people.

AP: 192 red sander logs seized, 4 smugglers arrested

Nellore, July 15 (UNI) The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) personnel seized 192 red sander logs, worth over Rs 50 lakh and arrested four smugglers at Chejerla village.

DSP G Balireddy told the media that on the directions of RSASTF chief L Subba Rayudu, a task force team led by RI Sai Giridhar and RSI Lingadhar conducted combing in the Chejerla forest area.
