Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 31 (UNI) With two more people who have tested positive for Zika virus, the total number of affected cases rose to 63 in Kerala on Saturday.
A 14-year-old woman from Karamana and a 24-year-old man from Puthenthoppe in Thiruvananthapuram district were identified with the virus infection, Health Minister Veena George said in a press release here this evening.
Out of the 63 cases, 60 people tested negative till this day, and the rest of them are under medical observation.
Earlier, for the first time in Kerala, a 24-year-old pregnant woman tested positive for the Zika virus. Later, she recovered within six days and gave birth to a healthy baby at a private hospital, KIMSHEALTH, here.
Zika virus disease is a new occurrence in the state now grappling with the Covid pandemic.
