Bhupesh Bagga elected OMIG President as LVPEI hosts Bug Busters 5 & AMR awareness run

Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) Dr Bhupesh Bagga, Consultant Ophthalmologist (Cornea & Anterior Segment) at L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), has been elected as President of the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group (OMIG), a global network of physicians and scientists dedicated to studying ocular infections.
The announcement came during Bug Busters 5, a three-day international conference hosted by LVPEI from October 31 to November 2, which focused on advancing research in corneal infections and antimicrobial resistance. Over 120 delegates, including national and international experts, attended the event.
As part of the conference, a 4K “Race Against Resistance – AMR Awareness Run” was organized on Sunday in collaboration with the Superheroes Against Superbugs initiative. The run, held ahead of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (Nov 18–24), aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of antibiotic misuse.
