Centre lauds Hyderabad’s technology-driven approach to control vector-borne diseases

Hyderabad, Jan 6 (UNI) Hyderabad’s sustained efforts in controlling vector-borne diseases, particularly dengue, have won appreciation from the Government of India at the National Review Meeting of Metropolitan Surveillance Units (MSUs) held in Nagpur.
Presenting the city’s achievements at the meeting, R V Karnan, Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, explained how Hyderabad significantly reduced dengue cases in 2025 by strengthening disease surveillance and response mechanisms.
He highlighted the effective use of the Vector Borne Diseases (VBD) App, which integrates GIS-based dashboards and real-time data updates. This digital platform enabled timely field-level action, close monitoring of hotspots and swift coordination among concerned departments.
