African doctor undergoes successful kidney transplant at Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Nov 22 (UNI) Fortis Hospital has successfully performed a life-enhancing robot-assisted kidney transplant on a 61-year-old African doctor suffering from End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
The groundbreaking procedure was led by a multidisciplinary team of experts, including Doctors Mohan Keshavamurthy, Shakir Tabrez, and Renuka Prasad, and marks a significant advancement in addressing complex medical challenges with cutting-edge robotic technology.
The patient, Dr Benson, had endured ESRD for over six months, requiring regular haemodialysis. His case was complicated by morbid obesity and long-standing hypertension, factors that led to treatment refusals at multiple hospitals worldwide.
