TN LS polls : Prominent leaders file nomination papers for Apr 19 polling

Chennai, Mar 25 (UNI) With just two days left for nominations to close, prominent candidates of various political parties, including the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, the Opposition AIADMK, the BJP and also from the Naam Tamizhar Katchi (NTK), filed their papers before their respective Returning Officers on Monday.
Single phase polling to all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Union Territory of Puducherry and also for the bye-election to Vilavancode Assembly seat, which fell vacant following the resignation of a sitting Congress MLA, will be held on April 19.
The filing of nominations witnessed some minor skirmishes, jostling and heated arguments between the cadres of the two major Dravidian forces, the DMK and the AIADMK, while police resorted to a mild lathicharge in the Nilgiris (R) seat, where Union Minister and BJP Leader L.Murugan filed his
