Rs 13.96 crore. worth cash, gold, and liquor seized: DC

Eluru, AP, Apr 28 (UNI) The police and election officials have so far seized cash, gold, and liquor worth Rs 13.96 crore in Eluru district in Andhra Pradesh.
Disclosing this to media here on Sunday, Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh said that since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, cash, gold, liquor and other valuables worth Rs 13.96 crore have been seized.
He said the officials have seized Rs 210.30 lakh cash, Rs 10.17 crore worth of gold jewelry and silver ornaments, and Rs 169.20 lakh worth of liquor. The officials have so far received 2255 applications through the Suvidha portal seeking permissions to organize election programs of which 2162 permissions have been given and 93 applications are under consideration.
