Auto, taxi drivers seek state recognition

Bengaluru, Nov 10 (UNI) Bengaluru’s auto and taxi drivers urged the state government to officially recognise the birth anniversary of the late Shankarnag as "Drivers' Day," a request voiced during the 11th annual celebration of the event on Saturday.
Organised at Shalini Maidan in Jayanagar, the occasion brought together over 5,000 drivers, including around 100 women, to celebrate their vital role in the city.
Various drivers’ unions, including PeaceAuto and Adarsh Auto, have long marked the day to honour Shankarnag, a revered figure who continues to inspire the driving community.
