Cyclone Montha: Crops in 4.5 lakh acres damaged in Telangana: Agriculture Min

Khammam, Oct 30 (UNI) Standing crops in four and a half lakh acres were damaged in Telangana state due to Cyclone Montha as per preliminary estimates, according to Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao.
Talking to reporters after visiting flood-affected families at the relief camp at Nayabazar School here today, the Minister said the crop damage might increase after a full-scale crop damage survey is conducted, and officials have been told to collect the details quickly.
The government is ready to provide compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre to the affected farmers and to purchase soaked paddy to support them, said Thummala.

AP: YS Jagan demands CBI probe into Joji Nagar demolition

Vijayawada, Dec 16 (UNI) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday demanded a CBI inquiry into what he alleged was the role of people in high places in the illegal demolition of houses in the prime Joji Nagar area here, despite a court order granting relief to residents till December 31.
