Hyd: Temple heist busted, ornaments worth ₹26 lakh recovered

Hyderabad, Jan 14 (UNI) The Central Crime Station (CCS) of Kukatpally Zone, with the support of police, busted an inter-state temple theft gang involved in the burglary at Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Sardar Patel Nagar, KPHB Colony, and recovered stolen gold, silver, and copper ornaments worth ₹26 lakh, police said on Wednesday.
The theft came to light on January 7 when temple manager Kandula Maruthi lodged a complaint stating that unidentified men had broken open the sanctum during the intervening night of January 6/7 and decamped with valuable ornaments, said E. Ravikiran reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, KPHB Division said in a release.
A case was registered at KPHB police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
