Telangana ACB nabs Police Head Constable accepting Rs 50,000 bribe

Hyderabad, Jan 29 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Telangana apprehended a head constable (writer) from Khammam Two Town Police Station on Monday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
At approximately 01:05 hours, the accused officer (AO), P Koteshwar Rao, was caught by the ACB, Khammam Unit, near Government Hospital Khammam. The arrest occurred as AO demanded Rs 1.50 lakhs and accepted an initial payment of Rs 50,000 from the complainant, Burle Vishnu of Ramchandraiahnagar, Khammam. The bribe was solicited in exchange for a favourable action—"to serve 41 A Cr.P.O. notices to the complainant and his family members in Cr. No. 275/2023 u/sec 420, 406, 506 IPC of Khammam II town PS," as stated in an ACB statement.
The accused officer was found to have improperly and dishonestly performed his public duty.
