AP: Vigilance squad seizes 6,600 kgs PDS rice

Kakinada, Sep 6 (UNI) The regional vigilance and enforcement squad from Rajahmundry on a tip off raided a tin roof shed in Pallamraju nagar area in Kakinada city on Friday and seized 6,600 kgs of PDS rice packed in 132 bags worth over Rs.3.7 lakhs, official sources said.
They also seized a weighing machine from the premises. The civil supplies officials have booked a case under 6-A and handed over the seized rice to the police for initiating criminal proceedings.
The shed owned by Bonepalli Srinivas and rented by Madugula Ayyappa who purchase the PDS rice from the cardholders moving door to door and selling the same to the nearby aquaculture tanks, official sources added.
